At the artificial horizon for example are two round knobs: the black one below is for adjusting the horizon symbol and the metal-like one above is the instrument light, that illuminates the instruments from outside. There is one on the top left corner of the airspeed indicator (top left instrument), too. On can see the notch where the light comes out. Looks like every round instrument has such a light source.
