I believe it may be more common than you might expect. On the Vulcan there
was a three-state sensor on the tail to detect if the pilot was about to
scrape the tail on take-off or landing. An orange light indicated the tail
was about to scrape. A red light indicated the sensor had been ripped off
and pilot was going to have some explaining to do!

I think that the high take-off/landing AoA was a side-effect of the delta
wing configuration, but I'm not sure.

I've still to impliment this on the Vulcan, but it's fairly high on the
priority list as it is quite a cute little feature.
