I apologise ; running FG --log-level=debug, I get streams of this:

prepare_ground_cache(): ac radius = 14.5878, # triangles = 10, # wires = 0, # 
catapults = 0, ground_radius = 0
prepare_ground_cache(): trying to build cache without any scenery below the 
aircraft
