I think people are reporting problems with hgtchop and 64 bit machines ...
the hgt format is binary and the hgtchop program is probably making
assumptions about basic data type sizes ...

Of course I double check the path, but files are in the same directory
that
30' arc files and all is OK with them (a bash script copy the good file
(tar.gz for dem30 or hgt.zip for SRTM3 ) in the same place before
proceding
then I'm sure about path).
