It is perfectly alright and a valuable input to express your concerns and judging from the reactions I think everybody on this list is ready to respect them.
Democracy allows each individual the right to pursue his/hers interests as long as nobody is harmed. Same with the GPL. If James likes to implment combat he does nothing wrong. It is simply unfair and by no law, or terms of the GPL justified to flame at him just because you don't like what he wants (or better: thinks about) to do.
