Hi all,

hornet, the first autogyro for flightgear, is in cvs.

Because of the lack of an autogyro in flightgear I asked Emmanuel a few
weeks ago, if he would like to model one, e.g. Little Nellie. Searching
for information about this autogyro Emmanuel found the very detailed
information about a autogyro hornet designed by Don Shoebridge and
therefore we decided, to build the hornet in flightgear. We are very
pleasured, that Don gave us any detailed information about the hornet we
asked for and exported his SolidWorks model for fligthgear (!!!!!!!).
Emmanuel converted it and made some simplifications and added
animations. Information about the Hornet you can find here:

www.gdt-systems.com

If Don gets a flightgear-cvs build running on his pc he will probably
help us optimizing the FDM.

To fly the hornet just start the engine (if not running). You can
accelerate the rotor by hand by pressing "n". Then full power and let
the rotor accelerate while taxiing. By pulling the stick you can even
accelerate the acceleration. In air it flies similar to an airplane, but
you can land nearly without any forward speed.

Have fun with the first autogyro for flightgear.

Maik
