Hi All,

I've come across and issue that I think we need to resolve before the release.

The last scenery rebuild was for the v0.9.10 release, 2 years ago. Since that
time, we've had a number of updates to the data/Airports/apt.dat.gz file/

This means that the locations of runways according to FG is inconsistent with
the current scenery. While in general this makes little difference (e.g
taxiways changes), in some cases runway locations and heading have changed, and
attempting to start at a given airport and runway will result in you not being
on the runway at all, but instead in the long grass to one side.

For example, attempting to start at Half-Moon Bay (KHAF) will place you off one
side of the runway in the grass (in particular runway 12). This is particularly
bad because the c172p tutorials are based at KHAF and start you on runway 12.
As it stands, the tutorials are practically unusable, as they are based on the
assumption that you will start on the runway threshhold - not in the grass to
one side.

I have come across a number of others, but don't recall the airports.

I haven't heard whether we will be re-generating the scenery for the v1.0
release, but given the length of time it takes to do so, I assume we are not.
Given this, I think we have no choice by to revert the changes to apt.dat.gz so
that they match the scenery people are going to be using.

I would suggest going back to revision 1.3, which Curt checked in a couple of
days after announcing the 0.9.10 scenery. Curt - was that version of apt.dat
used to generate the scenery?

Martin - I've CC'd you on this as you have mainly been keeping the apt.dat.gz
in sync, and may well have some valuable input.
