I don't want to waste a lot of devel list bandwidth on this, but I wanted to
mention some possibly interesting simulation related work opportunities
available here for the right person(s). I just got off the phone with a
recruiter who is working to fill a number of positions at Link Simulator in
Arlington Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth area.) Some of you may recall Steve
Baker who was involved in FlightGear in our early days and who authored
plib. He used to work for Link in Arlington (but he's moved on to another
company in the mean time.)

There must be 20-30 jobs they are looking to fill. If anyone is interested,
contact me off line and I can get you more details. They are looking for
mechanical engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, and even a
couple co-op students. I believe they deal with military contracts so USA
citizenship would be required. They are looking for graphics/opengl
programmers, C/C++ programmers, even some fortran/ada, linux, unix,
networking, cockpit systems, avionics experience, there appears to be some
manager/team leader level positions, real time software, geospatial
databases, physics, etc. etc., buzzword, buzzword. I'd be shocked if they
weren't also looking for 3d modelers and graphics people too. If you have
skills that would be attractive to the FlightGear project, most likely those
same skills would be attractive to Link. You would need to be willing to
relocate to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and learn to speak Texan. (i.e.
Ya'alls is the plural form of Ya'all, and apparently "don't mess with texas"
rhymes if spoken in the local dialect.)

Obviously if anyone here would end up taking one of these positions, you
would be expected to increase your involvement and support of FlightGear,
not the other way around. :-)

I don't offer any personal endorsement of the company. I suppose working
there wouldn't be too unlike working for any other large company. My
parents used to live out in that area for a number of years and I can tell
you that texas winters are a heck of a lot warmer than minnesota winters.
Dallas is a big town so there's as much to do there as just about any other
large city.

So that's it; if anyone is interested in more details, just drop me a note
off line and I can put you in touch with the right person.

Regards,

Curt.
