The reason was: in the past the JSBSim in fgfs had to be compiled with -DFGFS, and there are "#ifdef FGFS" blocks in several of the JSBSim files. But these blocks are now obsolete and unused by fg, and with your patch they don't work anymore. I hadn't noticed that -DFGFS got dropped and still had it in my build system.
