I can tell you that

current_view->get_view_pos()

is moving a non-trivial amount with these aircraft that have the view center
position offset.  It's almost like the view position is sweeping around by
whatever the offset is versus being at a fixed position.

So the next step might be to look into the view manager code to see why the
view position computation doesn't produce a stationary point when there is a
model view offset defined?
