Whoops, re-reading this, a tiny addendum: while I believe we should  
work in volts in the aircraft, all the instruments should probably  
work in 'auto-jumpered' mode, and hence define their minimum  
functioning voltage and so on as percentages of nominal.

Unless anyone can think of a reason why that might cause issues?
