You could always add video cards and displays to your system, or maybe run
s...@home in the background with a high negative nice value?

We do have a mechanism that uses a software timer based system so it is not
perfect, but does seem to work pretty well.  From the command line or your
.fgfsrc file you can use the following option:

--prop:/sim/frame-rate-throttle-hz=30
