Hi Martin,

I can only guess the reason for the high price they asked for, but my
feeling from attending is:
- Their #1 priority will indeed probably be commercial companies or to
say it the other way round, it probably is not too surprising LinuxTag
is more open to Open Source projects than other fairs.
- There were some virtual airlines which I see as non commercial, but
AFAIK all were for FSX. The event is very specific. Several times I
asked on a booth what sim their product is for and each time they took
the question to mean "is it for FS2004 or for FSX?"
- It seems this year they got 50% more space from the airport, so
probably last year they were quite tight on space which obviously
would rise the price.

The main groups of exhibitors were:
- Hardware. Around half were "real" gauges with for example a rotating
needle. At least one of them said it would be very easy to adapt to
non-MS flightsims and that while he would not write the interface, he
would support someone writing it and it would be a very small job.
He had both specific gauges (say a Spitfire VSI) and a generic gauge
where you print your own facia.
The other half were simply flat panels that were rendered to by MSFS
with a plate with holes in before it.
- Software for example MSFS AddOns.
- FS magazines.
- Virtual Airlines

Bye bye,
Wolfram.
