Ah, I'm glad it's not just me with sound problems - I've just upgraded a machine to prepare for building packages, so I've built everything from scratch and spent ages tearing my hair out trying to work out why I was getting no sound. Obviously with new builds of everything it's difficult to tell what was the source of the problem because *everything* is new.
