I'm currently //studying// law - I cannot practice it or give legal advice yet
- so I can't help.

I will say, there are a lot of lawyers who do pro bono (free) work.
Unfortunately, most of this is geared at people who cannot afford a lawyer - a
lot of pro bono work is family law and assisted housing/land use sort of stuff,
not a free flight simulator. There may be technology lawyers willing to review
the GPL for us, especially if we're up front and specific about what we want to
achieve.

It seems to me based on reading this discussion that the GPL seems unclear; if
Curt or someone sat down with a lawyer (for free) and asked the lawyer to
research several GPL-related questions, including figuring out what rights the
creator of a GPL work has, whether or not Durk's improvement to FlightGear is
compatible, and if we have any case against people who take our product and
redistribute it as-is for a fee, I think this would be helpful.

Cheers
John
