In Ubuntu 8.04, the sound was working well up until the last CVS update yesterday afternoon. Now, I too get very 'broken', 'intermittent' sounds! al-info shows :- ~/fg/fg7$ ./run_alinfo run_alinfo: Running: ./al-info AL_VENDOR = "OpenAL Community" AL_RENDERER = "Software" AL_VERSION = "1.1" AL_EXTENSIONS = "ALC_EXT_capture AL_EXT_capture AL_EXT_vorbis AL_EXT_MP3 AL_LOKI_quadriphonic AL_LOKI_play_position AL_LOKI_WAVE_format AL_LOKI_IMA_ADPCM_format AL_LOKI_buffer_data_callback ALC_LOKI_audio_channel " ALC_MAJOR_VERSION = 1 ALC_MINOR_VERSION = 0 ALC_EXTENSIONS = "" ALC_DEFAULT_DEVICE_SPECIFIER = "'((sampling-rate 44100) (device '(native))" alsa_blitbuffer: Could not write audio data to sound device: Input/output error ~/fg/fg7$ Hope this helps... Regards, Geoff. PS: The sound still works well in Vista WIN32, after a CVS update, but this is using the WIN32 OpenAL 1.1 SDK. Have not yet tried compiling al-info.c, but will see what I can do... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
