Hi Alex,

That's only one part of the NOTAR-system. The other is the special tail boom, which uses the Coanda-effect: ->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coandă_effect The downwash produces a force like a wing which produce about 60% of the anti-torque needed. The other part are the nozzles in hover and the Vstabs in cruise. ->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOTAR ->http://www.mdhelicopters.com/products.php?id=NOTAR > Heiko indicated that Maik Justus may have been working on > implementing some code to produce the required effect. > > I have sent Maik a message to ask the question but as > yet have not had a response. Does anyone have a suggestion > as to how to implement this. Maik seems currently away - the end of the year between christmas and new years days are used here for having nice vacations and visiting friends and family. How to achieve the simulation of NOTAR: 1. someone with YASIm knowledge implements the coanda effect using rotor downwash. Maybe just something like the vstab but with a different direction. 2. and easier one, just an idea based on Maik advice a while ago: Using 2 thrusters which one is coupled together with rotor rpm or maybe better collective and the other thruster with anti-torque-controls. This is not quite correct, but comes close to it. It might need maybe some nasal. Increasing collective increases the first thruster, and using the anti-torque-control increases the second thrusters. Then just add two Vstab with rudder like on a fixed-wing and it should work quite like the original. The flight character the will be quite different to the conventionell helis: Less or even no anti-torque is needed while hovering, but with autorotation a large input on the right pedal is needed. (Because the NOTAR-systems works as long the rotors are turning), it needs a constant and quite high rotor rpm on autorotation to be still steerable. Hope this helps a bit, I would like to help more, but currently I have not much time (not visiting family but working) Happy new year!
