thinking....
Maybe we do really need to set up some legal "entity"... for a variety
of reasons. Its noted that setting up an "entity" does have huge
ramifications in time and admin, such as legal status, cash flow, etc..
etc..atc.. and it does mean responsibility ie personally involved..
officially for a few.

"FlightGear Global International Flying Foundation Association Club"
FIF or some other cool sounding ack, would be useful in realms such as:

* maybe send a "letter" to CAA, in UK and EUROCONTRO; and send us back
the copyright free data in CSV please.
* An entity that can pay for online servers, and bandwidth as part of
"cloud" operations as IT ramp up, to maybe 23,000 online.
* t-shirts.. but we will be professional and only sell proper gear, such
as tshirts, FG shades, ALT/VS buttons that glow/flash in the dark and
other at nice price.
* official letterhead and a legal address of sorts..

To set up such an entity is unfamiliar, and indeed it needs to xcross
global boundaries, circumvented here on this internet.

I think we could "bait" and recruit someone who'd enjoy the challenge,
preferably with expericence..

* Its noted for example that Mark "UpInTo" spaced out Shuttleworth
Canon is now down in the engine room, so maybe he can help us with
compile for 64 and ARM on Android, as well as the calibration of the sim
at FL50+, and also other issues of experience for example.
* also noted bill gates is retired and in the depths to his foundations,
has a lot of dosh... maybe someone create a screenshot of FlightGear,
and photoshop it so its looks like its running on windowsME, he'd like
that. Take the cheque..cash it and give us 10%.
* the google twins, airlines.. whoever.. nobble them ;-)

On a serious note though. The issue of costs, as in my experience ends
up being servers and bandwidth. I think that we are fed up with the
"con" of the "grab cash" and online extortion sometimes of MP.
MulitPlayer is where it is at and I think users/public are not stupid
either, and realise than you cant get something for nothing; there is a
cost somewhere. Parents know that, the most steady and cheaper is always
better. FlightGear is unique in that it is "free" multiplayer of sorts.

A legal entity, so schools collages, etc can deal with would change the
framework somehow i feel.

Certainly, a virtual organisation I can imagine, there's all the stuff
to sorted out such as nav data, aircraft, scenery, ILS, trees, snow
lines, landing shadows with coned headlights, all with licensing issues
etc..etc etc.. we just need to share some current burden, if any to make
it fast and effective == adoption.

My £100 cheque is waiting.. firstly to spend on MP and make it better
somehow. My standing order is set as £10 per quarter ;-) I dont want a
tshirt, I want a faster server, or a tshirt to keep the dust outta the
server..

just thought..

Pete :-)
