Hi, most of you have probably heard of Eyjafjallajökull, a volcano in Iceland that has erupted under a glacier and blew a giant ash cloud into the atmosphere. The currently very strong jetstream over iceland took a good chunk of that cloud and delivered it straight to central Europe, leading to a closure of nearly all major airports. While the dust is almost invisible during the day, it creates spectacular effects during sunset. Here are some impressions from just a few minutes ago, taken from the roof of my house located roughly 20km east-south-east of EDDH and 2000km east-south-east of Eyjafjallajökull.
