Hello everyone,
several days ago, I posted on the FlightGear forum a message to
announce the release of the alpha version of Fly! Legacy, the open
source flight simulator:
http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9423

As I said, it is still needed to own Fly! II to have Fly! Legacy
working correctly because it remains some dependencies, but the
remaining work is huge.
As I am not developer of the project and so, I don't know all the
technical details, I would like to know if someone would agree to
contact by email the two main developers to discuss with them about the
elements of FlightGear which could be integrated, in order to allow
Fly! Legacy to be 100% independent.
Moreover, it would be interesting to discuss about the technical
choices made by FlightGear about precise points, for example, the
resolution of generic textures.
Please contact me if you want to have the email addresses of the
developers.

Currently, here are the last blocking points:
A) The navigation objects, airports, nav, ils, ndb, waypoint. There
are coming from the Terminal Reality 's databases.
However, we may use the last DAFIF data published in 2007
B) Generic textures. There are about a thousand of textures which
belong to Terminal Reality. Nevertheless, How In The World provided
some free ones but that won't be enough
C) Elevations are from Terminal Reality too. In this case, I think we
may use the SRTM data.
D) Coasts are from Terminal Reality files
E) Same thing for the taxiways of the airports
My club created a bunch of taxiways, I suppose we could integrate some
but the number will be limited and restricted mainly to France
F) The Cessna 172 (texture, sounds, and so on...) is from Terminal
Reality
Apparently, a new aircraft has been created from scratch by some
members of the team, but I don't have more details yet.
G) For the 3D objects, the situation is mixed. Except from the
Terminal Reality's sceneries, the other are from 3rd party with a mix
with ROTW sceneries (my group) which use 3D objects created by other
users.
Thank you for your help.
