Hello,

I've been following some of the discussions on this list, and have become
interested in contributing to flightgear.

I have spent the weekend downloading and building osg, simgear, flightgear and
terragear from source, and have successfully generated scenery for the atlanta,
ga area.  (from shapefiles on mapserver)

So now, I was wondering, is there a list of projects (long term) being worked
on to improve terragear?

Here is the things I would like to look into, but I would like to know if there
is anyone actively working on such features before stepping on anyone's toes.

1) uv mapped roads, railroads, streams.  I see all of the ogr-decoded landclass
data is not uv mapped.

2) coastlines for lakes and edges of landmass (possibly a more general idea of
transition polygons between landclass types, that would also be uv mapped.  I'm
not sure how well this would work - it would probably need a lot of trial and
error prototyping...

3) upgrading apt.dat to 850.  I'd love to see curved taxiways, and automated
signage.

Pete

PS: I've been a sw developer for 17 years, and an avid flightsimmer for 20+
years, and won't be using MSFS anymore :(
