Greetings,
How do I submit modified joystick xml files to the OSX flightgear project?
My Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals would not work, so following the
procedures outlined on the joysticks page, I did this:
- determined the correct joystick name with ./js_demo
- copied the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals xml file
- cd
/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/data/Input/Joysticks/Saitek/
- cp Pro-Flight-Rudder-Pedals.xml Pro-Flight-Combat-Rudder-Pedals.xml
- Edited the names inside the file, and the magic happened.
Note that the procedure outlined here: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Joystick said
that I needed to edit $FG_ROOT/joysticks.xml
but when reading the comments in that file, it said I did not need to, and in
my case, I did not edit $FG_ROOT/joysticks.xml
I simply copied the similar Saitek-Pro-Flight-Rudder and edited it to have the
same name inside as given by the command line test tool ./js_demo.
I am not setup to submit the incredibly complex change I made via git, but I
would like to save the next poor soul some effort. How would
you suggest I submit whatever request is required to add the Saitek Pro Flight
Combat Rudder xml file to the OSX repository?
Cheers,
Elle
