do you use Windozer or so? If yes, that might be the reason. When Windows copies, creates or just saves files, the permissions got set to 0755 on files and 0777 for directories. I know a way for Subversion to prevent this. It is called 'auto-properties', maybe also GIT provide this? Okay, I have to go now.
