I have a series of tree photographs if anyone is interested in creating new tree textures.
The images are 1200x1600 JPEG, taken on an overcast day in diffuse light, outlining the trees against the bright sky, isolated as good as possible against the background. I've experimented with different exposure times ranging from 1/60 to 1/200. I have bare birches and alders, as well as pine and spruce (= a typical central Finland selection). I have tried to get genuine forest trees, as trees growing in isolation have quite a different growth pattern (in forest trees, the lower branches tend to die off and only the crown is green), but this is tricky for obvious reasons. My impression is that some photoshop/gimp postprocessing is needed to create suitable textures - if anyone is interested in having a go, please get in touch for the package. * Thorsten ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn Graph Databases - Download FREE O'Reilly Book "Graph Databases" is the definitive new guide to graph databases and their applications.
