Hello,

sorry to stick my neck out like a newbie, but I couldn't get Flightgear to
compile with XFree-4.1.0. Why this happends I believe I'm doing something
stupid.

plib compiles successfully but SimGear complains about missing 'libglut'.

I'm running Redhat 6.2 basically but I have the same problem using Slack 8.

On Redhat 6.2 I compile the usual kernel to get that source working, then I
run the upgrade script for XFree-4.1.0.

Luckily for us Flightgear compiles successfully on a stock distro but when
XFree is upgraded I believe that's the source of the problem. I need to
rehearse this in order to get a kind of graphic accelerator to run on XFree
4, while Flightgear would happily run in software non-accelerated on the old
XFree.

How do ppl build their Mesa (w/glut), could you run both the libGL from
XFree and a side order of Mesa in another directory? I know how to compile
libglut from source as to get everything to run in software but can't make
sense as to running a newly-built Mesa and XFree 4.1 at the same time.

btw, Slack 8 has XFree 4.1.0 but I havn't successfully compiled anything
OpenGL-ish there yet.

Hope this makes sense bc these old habits die hard.

Regards,

Roger
