I've dealt with RMS in the past, and I'll agree that (a) he's a bright guy, and (b) communication with him can be frustrating.


The ironic thing is that Stallman probably did more for commercialization of Open Source software than anyone else -- because the GPL is so restrictive (and the LGPL, only slightly less so), companies have been able to make a business out of dual licensing, releasing their OSS under the GPL (and getting all the free contributions, debugging, etc.) and then charging corporate customers a bundle for a license they can actually do anything with.
