The Terragear list seems to have gotten very quiet again so I'll try here.
I'm sure New Zealand is included as srtm data at ftp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/Islands/ because I downloaded S36E174.hgt.zip with the hope of building the Auckland scenery. More specifically I want to be able to take off from NZWP. Is there another New Zealander out there who has built it yet, or some crazy outsider who has for the fun of it? I tried but I don't get any terrain elevation; it's flat as a pancake. It's as if I built all the grass and water etc onto elevation data that doesn't exist (ie I downloaded the wrong .hgt.zip file) or the srtm data is flat (which I doubt) or I've screwed up the build process.
I've done this successfully before with US srtm data and with dem data of NZ. Heck I even tried updating the terragear tutorial and posted it at http://www.glennm.orcon.net.nz/flightgear/fg-scenery-tutorial2
I wont post specifics (unless you want) because I sent it to the terragear list. I'm pretty much asking if anyone has built any NZ srtm data yet?
