If you have loaded a JSBSim aircraft, the YASim property tree values would do you no good, and vice versa. I believe the fuel loads as specified in the JSBSim config files are ignored (or overridden) when that aircraft is loaded within FlightGear.
Along this train of thought, for the future:
1) Vehicle _masses_ should probably be specified - not weights.
Aircraft are defined by weight: empty weights, take off weight, zero fuel weight, landing weights and so on.. That 's why I think the user interfaces should use weights (definition file, property trees, GUI etc)
2) The masses should be _empty_ mass of the aircraft. The mass of fuel would be added later. This also means that the moments of inertia values should be given for the _empty_ aircraft. IMHO, this makes the most sense.
3) Regardless, JSBSim loads the empty weight(mass in the future) of the aircraft, the fuel weight, and any "point masses". These are summed to arrive at the actual gross weight. The moments of inertia are also adjusted for fuel burnoff, etc. The FDM could make available the values for empty weight, fuel weight, and gross weight. How an FDM does this internally is not important to FlightGear, but a common interface to provide these values might be.
A common interface could be some values in the property tree like
/weight/emptyweight
zerofuelweight
paxweight
maxtakeoffweight
maxlandingweight4) What does the flightgear-side GUI allow as far as weight determination? This needs to be done carefully, as you cannot specify both fuel weight and gross weight - the aircraft weights a known amount, and if you supply fuel then the gross weight is known.
I understand
Version 0.9.5 of fgfs shows a menue entry EQUIPEMENT -> FUEL AND PAYLOADI'm not sure I understand the problem that is being reported, here.

The entry only works for yasim-fdm and I tried to find a way to make it working for jsbsim also
