Hi guys! I searched the forum, I searched the ML, all I found was this: http://mail.flightgear.org/pipermail/flightgear-users/2004-August/008436.html - but still the scenery i try to install is missing in the game. There is the scenery for SF in that dir (if I move the dir the scenery disappears ...), still to other scenery is ignored. I also checked the permissions on the dirs and fixed them to be the same as the existing dir - no joy. Even with explicitly pointing fgfs to the dir with --fg-scenery. Can anybody help me with this? This is with FlightGear version 0.9.5 compiled on gentoo. The scenery is from here: http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/scenery-0.9.5.html
I'm not sure I understand your problem.
The rule of thumb is to create a separate scenery directory for scenery that doesn't come with the base package and extract the downloaded file in there.
New version of FlightGear separate Terrain and Objects, but since there are no Objects for scenery other than the one included in the base package that shouldn't be a problem.
After that you could specify multiple scenery path by:
UNIX: --fg-scenery=/usr/local/share/FlightGear/data/Scenery:/home/user/Scenery
Windows: --fg-scenery="C:\FlightGear\data\Scenery;C:\Scenery"
