after playing around with it for a bit, i find that using waypoints i can go to the propery browser and find the distance... and when i get close enough to the destination switch the autopilot settings to nav1 and use ils from there.
I'm new to the whole flying thing, am going to delta connections acadamy in january. I'm just trying to learn a little before i go. How would I normally determine the distance from a waypoint? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Boris Koenig" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "FlightGear user discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2004 3:18 AM Subject: Re: [Flightgear-users] Re: approaching airport > John Pearson wrote: > > bah, nevermind... it only does it if i'm really close (i was going from > > snohomish to seatac). > > DMEs are certainly modelled to be as real as it gets, DMEs / > VORTACs and all other navaids do have a limited range in real life, > too - so depending on your exact needs you could do some great circle > calculation using the GPS coordinates from the property tree in order > to get the distance to an abitrary point on earth. > > You could then display that value in the console, or directly within > FG ... > > Maybe you can tell us in more detail what it is that you > want to do, we can certainly find an acceptable solution > for such an apparently trivial problem ;-) > > > --------- > Boris > > _______________________________________________ > Flightgear-users mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-users > 2f585eeea02e2c79d7b1d8c4963bae2d > _______________________________________________ Flightgear-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.flightgear.org/mailman/listinfo/flightgear-users 2f585eeea02e2c79d7b1d8c4963bae2d
