I think I have the answer on this one. When you engage
the autopilot it adjusts the trim to hold the aircraft
on course. When you switch off the autopilot the trim
is left with those settings and therefore the aircraft
continues straight and level until the pilot fiddles
with something and messes it up! :-)
If I have this wrong, as always I'd be glad if someone
would point out my mistake.
