Some keys are general and some are specific to certain planes.  Some 
keys don't make sense in some planes, and won't work.  As well, about a 
year or so ago a lot of work was put into making 3D panels, which are 
built into the plane.

The 3D panel in a plane can't be moved/removed, only the 2D one can.  
Not all planes have 3D panels and not all 3D ones have a corresponding 
2D panel.

Some aircraft are still being developed and often default to a C172 
panel when asked to display a 2D panel.

The 2D panel only displays when you are looking directly ahead.  Try 
left-clicking while in the "look-around" mode to revert to direct 
ahead.

I haven't tried it for a long time now, but, yeah, that one never worked 
for me either, it usually crashed me.
