I had a lot of trouble with FG 9.8 running on WinXP [SP2]. It would crash after a short time. Less so if started raw, from fgfs.exe.
I finally ended up increasing my pagefile.sys to "1024 MB max". That fixed it. My Task Manager showed the page file was increasing to 1 GB after FG loaded.
This is on a P4 system with 490 MB of available RAM. Intel Extreme 2 Graphics. The 3D Graphics ran OK on an OpenGL frame rate test.
I don't know why FG pages out so much virtual memory. Regardless of AC, graphics settings, etc. Not one of my other apps comes anywhere near. Including MSFS 2K4.

Other problems:
I can't Trim. NumPad 7/8 have no effect. The other keys control ailerons, etc. as documented.
The HUD shows the wrong sign for 'G' for most AC. -1.00 in level flight. More NEGATIVE when I pull up. Probably an error in the AC xml configure file or HUD code. One AC showed the correct '+' sign.
The short key control doc doesn't tell how to lean, set carb heat, prop pitch, etc. from the KB. And, it's hard to do those functions with the mouse. Hopefully I'll find the info in some individual AC documentation.
