I've been emailed a change to the
$FG_ROOT/joysticks.xml file which makes my/our
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick fully functional.
Most of the buttons had not worked before this change.
The suggestion was sent to me by a fellow named Bill
who has yet to subscribe to this list. Many thanks go
to Bill. His email message is below.
Curt: I have been unable to subscribe to the
developers list for some odd reason. Maybe you could
pass on this information about joysticks.xml (re:
Logitech stick) to that list, if you feel it would
help developers.

-----------------------------------------------------
Hi Michael,
I'm emailing this because I'm not subscribed to
Flightgear-users yet.
I had the same problem with the buttons on the Extreme
3D Pro. Here's how I "fixed" it:
In $FG_ROOT/joysticks.xml, replace the line
<!-- Default device -->
<js n="0"
include="Input/Joysticks/Default/joystick.xml"/>
with
<!-- Default device -->
<js-named
include="Input/Joysticks/Logitech/extreme-3d-pro.xml"/>
near the top of the file
I tried everything I could think of, but this is the
only thing that worked. I don't know why it worked,
but it did. Unfortunately I can't do any more
debugging on this at the moment due to other
priorities, but it works for me.
I also did my own button assignments for useful
functions like aileron trim, elevator trim, gear, etc.
and they all work like they should now.
Maybe when I have more time I'll subscribe to the list
and post what I did: what worked and what didn't.
good luck,
bill
