It seems to be something related to graphics. First,
the sound sputter doesn't seem to occur when C172 is
stationary on the runway. I then moused over to the
red hat on toolbar (KDE desktop). As the menu options
opened up, I hear the sputter. Then as the mouse
moves over menu options with arrow, and other menu
options open to the right, some more crackle. Looks
like as images, although small, appear on my LCD
monitor, some discontinuity occurs, manifested by
change in sound of the engine (memory access?). Recall
I'm running NVIDIA 32MB GeForce2 video card.
I should add that the pitching up/down was vitually
non-existant when I made a short flight in the pattern
around SFO. Maybe minimizing the number of active
windows and using only 1 desktop (have 4) helps.
Funny, when I first started using FG 6 months ago on
this system, I thought my setup was top notch.
