If one of the scenery directories contains a subdirectory "Terrain" and/or "Objects", then scenery is only searched in these two subdirs, but not in the directory itself. The default scenery directory *does* contain such subdirectories.
Ergo: move the installed scenery into Terrain/, where the default scenery already is.
