Hello Dene, I've just had a look at the PA28 (the relevant file is pa28-161.xml in the \Aircraft\pa28-161 directory) and it has the old legacy propeller definition. What has changed is that the original definition only allowed for piston engines and assumed such. The new definition allows for both piston and turboprop engines so now the <propeller> definition needs either a <piston-engine> or a <turbine-engine> subsection to define the actual power-plant. The PA28 is really Erik's baby so I'll be surprised if we don't hear from him soon;) Regarding the files that make up an aircraft - the YASim config in the pa28-161.xml file defines the aerodynamic qualities of the aircraft. The .ac files are 3d model geometry files and the .rgb files are the textures for the 3d model - you'd open them using a graphics package - I use The Gimp. In addition, there are several other sets of files that define other characteristics for the aircraft, such as the panels, electrical and autopilot systems etc. Finally, all the separate files are 'tied' together in the pa28-161-set.xml file, along with a few other things that can be set on a per aircraft basis. To add a new aircraft to FG you need to create all the necessary files and then structure them appropriately into their own aircraft directory, which you then add to the \Aircrat directory. FG will then recognise the new aircraft.
