I run flightgear with a Logitech Extreme Pro 3D too.  Follow Mike's
instructions to get to the file, and open it for edit.  My experience
with that file needed me to remove the name of the joystick in the
file from Logitech Logitech Extreme Pro 3D to just plain Logitech
Extreme Pro 3D.  You will also need to edit some of the gains on the
axes and the buttons numbers too.
