I think your problem may be in the joystick definition file for the
logictech extreme 3D pro. I had a similar problem. In the windows
0.9.8 distribution (maybe others?) the file
"data/Input/Joysticks/Logitech/extreme-3d-pro.xml" has these two
joystick names:

--- Incorrect joystick file lines ---
 <name>Logitech Extreme Digital 3D Pro</name>
 <name>Logitech Logitech Extreme 3D Pro</name>
---------------------------------------------

Note the "Logitech Logitech". The real name the joystick reports is
"Logitech Extreme 3D Pro", so just get rid of one of the logitechs and
it should recognize it.

 <name>Logitech Extreme Digital 3D Pro</name>
 <name>Logitech Extreme 3D Pro</name>

If this is not fixed in the current CVS, perhaps somebody should
change it there as well.
