But you can tell fgfs to read a personal preferences.xml (or whatever) file from
any of these non-xml config files. Just add lines like these:

--config=C:\my\real\preferences.xml
--nmea=socket,out,1,etive,5500

It's much easier to have all the personal preferences in an xml file, because
you can then use modified parts of the system wide preferences.xml file.
