Ummm, two drawbacks? :-) On my system (and it would
appear, many others) artsd just keeps crashing on KDE
startup. It seems to be a known problem. I'm running
Slack 10.2 on an Abit NF-7 (NForce2 chip set, with an
additional Soundblaster PCI).

But, anyway, thanks very much for the info on how to
disable it :-)
