The frame rate is displayed in the lower right corner if you go into
external view ("v" key) or hide the panel ("P").
It's also available on the HUD - press "h" to enable the HUD, then "I" to
maximise it. The Frame rate is displayed in the lower left quadrant.
If you want to know what the frame rate is *with* the Panel displayed and no
HUD, you'll have to shift the panel using Shift-F7. You'll see that the
frame rate was hiding there all along!
