We have tested that gcc-3.0 will compile FlightGear, so there should not
be any problems with that.  I haven't tried in a few weeks, but I've yet
to get FlightGear to link (that's a binutils issue).  I would not
recommend gcc-3.0 unless you are up for a challenge.  No distros use it
by default yet, and I'm not sure if the binutils team has worked out all
of the linking issues.  YMMV
