Hello: Running on Windows XP
It has been a very sad few days culminating in the complete un-installation of FG and Atlas et al. Why? I cannot be precise here except to explain that all has been functioning with no problems for many weeks until... Well, the precise time is when the upgrade to Atlas was installed. Firstly it was not possible to load with London Heathrow or any aircraft at that start point, the aircraft was there by had parts of the instruments missing and the scenery was not there. However, the sound was there, but the toolbar was not functioning. The computer just hung there. This was not a once off it was all the time. Starting elsewhere, there was not a problem. Eventually, I would choose another airport, and it would come up with a completely different one! I have been running Atlas/Map and FG on Georg's FG Tools and also found I was having a problem here (he is aware of this). As I have been running Atlas for the west coast of the US up to Canada, the west coast New York and New England, Western Europe with frequent flights in between these Regions it is daunting when suddenly there is a glitch. I decided to download scenery for the Caribbean. It placed itself in data/Scenery/Terrain etc, but when running Atlas the tiles were not there, the scenery was there when selecting a start point etc. Eventually Atlas Map was like a checker/chess board with the alternate tiles black with the others showing the map. Over this past 24 hours when the application has been selected to run, the computer still hangs with the sound of the aircraft, the cockpit still with instruments partly missing and the toolbar inactive. The only choice and that was to uninstall anything and everything to do with FG, Atlas and Map. This was several months of painstaking setting up as I wish to run FG. Now all is gone. I have installed the base package of FG from scratch, used fresh configurations for multiplayer and Atlas and NOTHING, all has hung again! I have taken Atlas configuration out and I have multiplayer on the screen as I write and the B737 is at Frisco. A quick circuit in primitive settings! Does anyone have any ideas what may have caused this complete collapse of FG? Everything else on the computer is running normally. Could it have been something between Atlas and FG that just did not configure on the update and then was compounded with the other downloads of scenery? I will now download Atlas and place it in the FlightGear folder and see what happens, but it is a pity that all my previous scenery had to go.
