Yes I did that last week. I've moved to 2.6.15 and I am using drm modules supplied with the kernel. There is some progress: when Hw TCL is completely disabled (using /etc/drirc configuration file) lock-ups happen much seldom. So far all lockups had happend while two OpenGL applications were running simultanously (I leave machine with FlightGear running, and then xscreensaver starts). I guess I am going to live with that unlesss there is significant improvement in xorg r200 driver. :(
