I tried to utilise idle time last night while doing taking "my" c310
across Europe .. awesome scenery.
No luck I'm afraid althought I did find a slightly higher res photo among
a walkaround:

I sharpened it with gimp and the central column looks more like a set of
buttons than a signal strength bar
that I first suspected. Maybe it's a coin operated cell phone after all
....
