Vivian Ahh well, Thanks for trying though and I'll keep plunking at it. You might can help me with some additional info though. I did compile OpenAL first and and I let it go to /usr/local. I have tried several different approaches on the OpenAL and if I try to run the autogen.sh I get warnings and errors and it tells me to run autoupdate but I can still compile openAL but I think this might be my first issue - what version of autotools are you running. I can actually get the OpenAL and FreeAlut to compile so that I end up with some libs and an cygopenal-0.dll and an cygalut dll also with a -0 like the cygopenal but then then Flightgear does not run. But wait - once I compile openAL and FreeAlut do I also need to recompile plib, SimGear and FlightGear ???? Also what configure options did you use????
