Speaking of the bf109, I can say that the texture file fg has to load is fairly big (a 2048 x 1024 image for the fuselage). As I can see the texture files for the P51 are smaller in resolution, but filesize still exceeds that of the hurricane or spitfire. On the other hand the spitfire and hurricane (I think) are heavyweights in polycount. You may try to halve the texture image of the 109 fuselage in Gimp (bf109-1.rgb) to size 1024x512.
