In the future, it's a good idea to explain to people what you mean by
"failures." "It didn't work" doesn't help people solve the problem; "I
expected X to happen, and I got weird error message Y" helps much more.
Anyway, I just tried to download w090n40.tgz using the graphical interface
from www.flightgear.org; yes indeedie, it doesn't work. Clicking on the
tile returns an HTTP 500 error message, indicating (non-printable non-
ASCII character) not understood. Choosing the ftp interface link instead
produces the same result. So I took the URL of the ftp site and tried
to open it directly using a standard command line ftp client. I get:
stax:~/Projects/FlightGear/Airports/Airport Work-601> ftp ftp.flightgear.org
Connected to seneca.flightgear.org.
220 FTP Server ready.
Name (ftp.flightgear.org:cmetzler): anonymous
500 not understood
ftp: Login failed.
ftp>
So it looks like seneca has weird problems involving decoding incoming
ASCII characters right now . . .
