To save time you might as well start from Scotland.

Yes, the lake district is passable, but really, there's nothing worth bothering about south of Berwick.

Good choices include:

- Edinburgh (EGPH). Head NNW into the Highlands.

- Inverness (EGPE). Fly WSW down the Great Glen and Loch Ness to Fort

William and Ben Nevis.

- Kirkwall (EGPA). Fly the Orkney islands - lots of small airports.

Not that we're biased...

If you start from EGPH, you can also admire Stuart's bridges over the Forth, and model of Edinburgh castle. Some day I'll get Jon Stockill to add 'my house' to that list, but i'm worried about the overflight noise :)

Stuart: I suppose there's a couple more landmarks to be added: eg Stirling castle, the Wallace monument and maybe the Skye Bridge? No idea what it looks like though. And then there's the crazy folly overlooking Oban, and the even crazier one ontop of Carlton hill. The SECC and crazy tower beside it could be done, just to keep the weegies quiet.

So much Scotland, so little time. Still, all of England is a uniform shade of concrete and red brick, so we can just tile a single texture down for all of it, and concentrate on getting the glens correct ;)
